Positivity at work

“The day is what you make it! So why not make it a great one?” - Steve Schulte.

Being positive at work encourages great vibes, both within the working environment and the employees' personal wellness as a whole also.  Exercising positivity can promote health benefits and can also make you have a more productive day, which is amazing for completing your work tasks!

Positivity is extremely infectious and spreading this to your employees or colleagues can create such a difference for everyone at work. A positive mind has a huge influence on your coping abilities and how you deal with difficult situations, leading to a longer life expectancy and gaining financial success so really we are all winners!

To create these positive vibes, you need to think of ways to bring them into work with you, whether you are the employer or the employee. Too often, colleagues are surrounded by fake positivity such as a ‘fun Friday’, when really every day at work should be an enjoyable day for all. So why not celebrate your wins, no matter how small or big they are. That way the praise you get towards a goal you are achieving will push you to work harder for it. Sometimes it can be hard to stay motivated if there is no praise in the workplace.

Harvard psychiatrist George E. Vaillant, sees positive psychology as a way to encourage patients to concentrate on positive emotions and building strengths rather than concentrating on anything negative then leading to negative thoughts. All in all, what he means is that if too many negative comments are thrown around then that is what will play on your mind.

Having a positive attitude really widens your view of life and what it has to hold. It really does open your eyes. Barbara Fredrickson, a positive psychology researcher, proved that positive emotions broaden your sense of possibility and really open up the way you think.

So start recognising and appreciating everything good you are doing and remind yourself and others of your achievements. Always remember even if you’ve completed something small, celebrate doing this and enjoy it as every little step works towards an even bigger goal. Having more wins in your work life will really motivate you and give you a greater outlook on your career or business and even your life.
